Speaking of the ways to study a foreign language， different people have different opinions on this。 Some believe we should go to a certain country。 Some think we should register in a training class。 Some think we should practice quite often。 In my opinion， I think we can learn a foreign language from three main ways。
說起學(xué)一門外語， 不同的人有不同的意見。一些人認為我們應(yīng)該去特定的國家學(xué)習(xí)。一些人認為我們應(yīng)該上培訓(xùn)班學(xué)習(xí)。一些人認為我們應(yīng)該經(jīng)常練習(xí)。就我來說，我認為學(xué)外語有三種主要的方法。
First of all， we should try to do many listening practice。 If you want to learn a foreign language， it is important for you to understand what people say。 So， we should find many listening materials to practice our listening skills。
首先，我們應(yīng)該多做聽力練習(xí)。如果你要學(xué)一門外語的話，你必須能夠聽懂別人在講什么。所以，我們應(yīng)該多找些聽力材料練習(xí)我們的聽力。
Secondly， we should say as much as possible。 It is a common phenomenon that most students are poor in oral speaking。 The reason is that most students don’t dare to speak and have little chance to practice oral speaking。 However， if we learn a language， we must encourage ourselves to say as much as possible。 Besides， we can work with our friends and classmates to practice oral speaking together。
其次，我們應(yīng)該多說。許多學(xué)生的口語很差已經(jīng)是一個很普遍的'現(xiàn)象。原因在于很多學(xué)生不敢講，而且又沒有機會開口練習(xí)。但是，如果我們要學(xué)習(xí)一門外語的話，我們應(yīng)該多開口講。另外，我們可以跟朋友和同學(xué)一起練習(xí)口語。
Thirdly， to master a language， we should practice writing。 When we learn a language， it is essential for us to write compositions。 By writing， we can improve our learning skills。
最后，要掌握好一門外語，要多練習(xí)寫作。寫作對于學(xué)外語來說很有必要。通過寫作，我們能夠提高我們的學(xué)習(xí)技巧。
All in all， if we want to learn a certain kind of language， we should not only practice our listening and writing skills， but we should try to speak as much as possible。
總之，我們在學(xué)習(xí)外語的時候，不僅要鍛煉我們的聽力和寫作技巧，而且我們應(yīng)該盡可能多開口練習(xí)。

What is language for? Some people seem to think it’s for practising grammar rules and learning lists of words ―the longer the words the better. That’s wrong. Language is for the exchange of ideas, for communication.
The way to learn a language is to practise speaking it as often as possible. A great man once said it is necessary to drill as much as possible, and the more you apply it in real situations, the more natural it will become.
Learning any language takes a lot of effort. But don’t give up.①Relax! Be patient and enjoy yourself. Learning foreign languages should be fun. Rome wasn’t built in a day. Work harder and practise more. Your hardworking will be rewarded by God one day. God is equal to everyone!
Use a dictionary and grammar guide constantly. Keep a small English dictionary with you at all time. When you see a new word, look it up. Think about the word ― use it, in your mind, in a sentence.
Try to think in English whenever possible. When you see something, think of the English word of it; then think about the word in a sentence.
Practise tenses as much as possible. When you learn a new verb, learn its various forms.
I would also like to learn more about the culture behind the language. When you understand the cultural background, you can better use the language.

As we all know, the world is nowadays becoming “globalized”, and I also heard somebody once said that the world is turning into a village. Recently fast-developed communication media result in the changes. And English functions as the most popular language in international communication should be the first cause―we have broken down the barriers between nations and could now communicate freely with people all over the world.
As for why I began to study English, there is a story. I can still remember when I was a little girl. One day, I was watching a TV programme. It’s about a beautiful country. I asked mum what it was called. She told me that’s Britain, far away in the west, and people there speak a kind of language called English. ‘But why it’s different from the one we are speaking now?’ I kept on asking. ‘That’s because every country has its own culture and language.’ I then just hit upon an idea: I must go there some day. Then I began to get interested in this nation. I wanted to know more about her culture, her history and her people. So in order to make my dream come true, I began to study English at the age of nine.
I have worked very hard, and as the study went further, I met many difficulties. But I have never thought of giving it up. Because later I realize that I learnt it not just because I want to go to Britain, but also because I like it. I just can’t help learning more and more about it.
And that’s the main reason why I study English.
Another reason is that China has joined the WTO, and Beijing is going to hold the Olympic Games in 2008. China is becoming more and more international. If we want to make our country stronger, we have to learn things from other countries; besides, we also have to let the whole world know about the Chinese traditional culture; so if we want to have these done, we have to communicate with people. So in order to communicate well, we have to learn another kind of language. Being an internationally used language, English should be our first choice.
So these are the reasons why I chose English to be my second language. I will never stop studying it. I know there are still a lot for me to learn. I hope that one day my dream will finally come true.

Most people think that the older you get, the harder it is to learn a new language. This is because they believe that children learn languages more easily and efficiently than adults. Thus, at some point in our lives, maybe around ages 12 or 13, we lose the ability to learn languages well. Is it true that children learn a foreign language more efficiently than adults? It may not necessarily be the case. In fact, the ability to learn language increases as the age increases, from childhood to adulthood.
There are several possible explanations for these findings. For one thing, adults know more about the world and, therefore, are able to understand things more easily than children. Moreover, adults can use logical thinking to help them see patterns in the language. Finally, adults have more self discipline than children.
All in all, the common conception that children are better language learners than adults may not necessarily be true. Hopefully, this would encourage adult learners to become successful language learners, no matter what new languages they want to learn.
